Exciting new developments in the whole-capsule compounding are on the horizon from P&C’s collaboration with CHU-Sainte Justine in Montréal, Canada. We have embarked on ground-breaking research using whole capsules in the compounding of hazardous drugs. Specifically, the team at CHU-Sainte Justine is exploring the use of QuartetRX in the compounding of liquid formulations of two hazardous compounds: hydroxyurea and tacrolimus. Formulation and stability data presented at the 2019 ASHP Midyear meeting in December suggest that QuartetRx provides a viable system for safely compounding using whole capsules.
